Native Mulch – Colorado Front Range

Native Mulch from Spruce Valley Organics, LLC

Ken Murray at Spruce Valley Organics, LLC. is offering a nice entry level mulch that is sourced locally and gets darker with age.  I took this photograph as a comparative against a standard red cedar mulch that has been in place for about a year.  Ken attributes the deeper brown color to his incorporation of mulched scrub oak into the blend.  Although it may not be a solid replacement for the premium Cascade Cedar, the fact that it is sourced locally, it deepens in color with age, and it has a palatable price point all warrant it a viable alternative to many of the other entry level mulches.

Landscape and Human Health

Below, a brief, yet interesting, read on how the outdoor green environment may be beneficial in reducing children’s Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms.  What about adult sufferers?  I would hope that it is addressed in one of the three sources outlined at the bottom of the article.  None the less, they have been added to my ”available reading time” list.  http://lhhl.illinois.edu/adhd.htm
